No Waste Cooking: Sweet & Sour Shrimp

shrimps Food & Life

I opened my fridge and started thinking about what I could cook for today.

I had some leftover sweet and sour sauce from yesterday. I made spring rolls and had some sauce left over, and I thought, “It would be such a waste to throw this away.” Then I got an idea—it would probably be delicious with shrimp!

Perfect timing, because I was going to the supermarket that day. Large shrimp immediately went on my shopping list. I bought some nice, plump shrimp and brought them home.

I removed the heads, peeled off the shells and legs, then made a shallow slit along the back of each shrimp to remove the dark digestive tract. I washed them and gently patted them dry with kitchen paper.

For the cooking, I simply heated a little cooking oil in a frying pan and lightly fried the shrimp. Then I poured in the leftover sweet and sour sauce.

I added a little water so the sauce wouldn’t become too dry, then added some chopped green onion leaves for extra flavor and color.

That’s it! I transferred everything to a plate, and a delicious and easy dish was ready to serve.

And of course, the best part is that I didn’t have to throw away perfectly good leftover sauce. I was able to turn it into another delicious meal instead.

No waste, just good food!

These Sweet & Sour Shrimp are simple, flavorful, and so easy to make—especially when you already have the sauce ready in your fridge.
